Activation Issues

Battery compartment does not come out

Possible cause
One of the screws securing the battery compartment may still be tightened.

Solution

• Remove the Allen screw by turning it counterclockwise until fully removed
• Locate the captive screw at the bottom of the lock and loosen it using a Phillips screwdriver
• Do not attempt to remove the captive screw - it is designed to remain inside the lock
• Once both screws are loosened, pull the battery compartment straight out

If the compartment does not release, continue loosening the captive screw until it disengages.

Battery does not activate the device

Possible cause
The battery may not be inserted correctly.

Solution

• Remove the battery compartment
• Check the orientation of the CR2 battery
• Align the positive (+) side with the marking inside the compartment
• Insert the battery fully into place
• Reinsert the compartment and ensure it sits flush before tightening the screws

App & Connectivity Issues

Lock does not pair with the BLACK X app

Possible cause
Bluetooth may not be enabled or the lock is not in pairing mode.

Solution

• Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone
• Open the BLACK X app and tap "Install a new lock"
• While the app is searching, press the pairing button using the pairing tool
• The pairing button is located on the underside of the lock
• Wait for the lock to appear and tap "Connect"

Make sure you are within close range during pairing.

xKey does not unlock the lock

Possible cause
The xKey may not have been activated or paired correctly.

Solution

• Press and hold the unlock button on the xKey for 5 seconds to activate it
• In the BLACK X app, open the lock settings
• Select "xKey remote" and tap "Add xKey"
• Select the relevant xKey and complete the pairing process

To unlock:

• Press the xKey within approximately 2 meters of the lock
• Turn the knob clockwise to unlock
